Substance use and overdose concerns are becoming more common on jobsites, and supervisors are often the first to see the warning signs. This half-day course will help frontline leaders recognize when something is not right, take appropriate action, and understand how NARCAN fits into a comprehensive response plan.
The first hour will focus on reasonable suspicion: what it is (and what it is not), observable indicators of impairment, how to document concerns, and how to approach an employee in a way that is respectful, legally sound, and aligned with company policy.
The second and third segments will cover overdose recognition and NARCAN administration, followed by how to set up and maintain a NARCAN program on your jobsite or in your company. Participants will learn how to recognize an opioid overdose, when and how to administer NARCAN, what to do after it is given, and how to work with medical partners to stock, store, and support NARCAN use as part of a broader safety and wellness strategy.
